An “A” School
SOUTH CENTRAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL was developed in 1986 through the merger of the Elizabeth Grade School and the Laconia Grade School.
South Central Elementary School is located in rural Southern Indiana between the towns of Elizabeth and Laconia. South Central educates over 300 students in grades Pre-K through 5. Our teaching staff consists of 22 professional educators who are supported by many talented and dedicated instructional support staff.
South Central is proud to be considered an “A” school by the Indiana Department of Education.

2014-2015 Goals: 100% of our students will achieve on or above grade level in reading comprehension and pass the IREAD assessment. 90% of the students in Grade 3 – 5 will receive a passing score and demonstrate growth on the English/Language Arts portion of the ISTEP+.
SCES has improved each year in percentage of students passing the ISTEP+ as well as the percentage of students demonstrating growth. The following link provides the passing trends for SCES. As pictured, SCES passing trends in English/Language Arts and in Math have steadily improved during the past four years.
